Strong quake hits Andaman Islands

KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake of 6.7 magnitude hit the Andaman islands 139km southeast of Port Blair, India and 852km northwest of Langkawi at 3.51am Tuesday.

A meteorological Department statement here says the earthquake occurred at latitude 11.1 degrees North and longitude 93.9 degrees East.
The tremors may have been felt in several places north of the peninsula but posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia, it added. - Bernama
