Why do I feel another 911 experience happening the moment I heard of the Big Oil spill disaster in the coast of Louisiana?... It was a weird feeling and I just ran out of words to describe nor base this feeling.
As the days went by, we are just realizing that this is not just another oil spill disaster... it is "The Oil Spill Disaster" to it's true sense of the word.
Now a chemical approach is being done without the approval of the public... with an untested chemical... with compositions not disclosed... I have heard of oil eating bacterias that can be used... but this could not be it - since it is declared as a chemical solution. If it is indeed a solution, they should declare its' contents to the world before they even threw a single drop of it into the sea.
It is indeed a Slick Trade Off for an Oil Slick problem. What can we do?... after all - it is what the masters of the world think that matters... who cares what we think?... who cares what happens to us?... what can our concerns do about it?
How can something bad become the solution to something thats also as bad?... I know that explosives can be used to extinguish fire. But to use chemical to separate oil from water is just like - Trying to recover used oil and refine it as fuel.
I have always thought that the fuel and oil we put in our cars have this very same chemical... this is the reason why our engines - inspite of it's being fully bathed in oil or fuel... will still rust at the bottom or at areas where oil is not able to reach. Oil and fuel seems to repel from the metal easily... Which of course - leads to accelerated wear and tear.
This chemical ensures the longetivity of the economic cycle of the oil and fuel we put in our cars as well as the guarantee that we will have to buy another car after 5 to 10 years due mainly to this type of chemical.
If the oil can be separated from sea water... then it will be easy for small vessels to recover and recycle the oil.
The picture is now much clearer that how I perceived it a few days ago...
This chemical approach - is not really in the best interest of the environment or humanity, nothing is what it seems...... it is mainly just to serve the best interest of the Big Corp. After the recovery phase.... the chemical will be left into the environment... and will of course - naturally destroy or degenerate the eco-system the way it destroys our engine - systematically.
I see a full scale imbalance of nature ahead in this incident.
What can we do?...
The only clear action I can see is to reduce the demand for fossil fuel... This will reduce the need to produce or drill more... it is not a quick fix for what is apparent... but this particular incident is a lost battle... similar to 911... losing the battle doesn't mean we are going to lose the war. It is just another chapter but a significant one.
This incident justifies the use of chemical means to destroy the planet. The oil slick is already a big one... now this... indeed - it is adding fuel to the fire.
At this point... I feel exasperated.
